Scale Aircraft Modelling
Despite the doom-mongering of Internet pundits, who have been eagerly predicting the downfall of the printed word for decades, SAM continues to go from strength to strength and approaches its 47th year of publication with content as original and vital as ever. No other magazine has provided such stability and continuity through these challenging times, and we continue to build on this reputation month on month with a balanced selection of news, reference material, and modelling that has maintained our pole position in a changing marketplace.

Because we do acknowledge the Internet, and all it has to offer, at SAM we recognise the need to provide our readers with material that they cannot simply find online and as a result our historical and reference pieces have become widely respected for the coverage they offer, and collected by readers for their ground-breaking research. Offering far more than any other magazine in terms of content, and far less white space than our nearest competitors, our editorial team provide something for everyone, showcasing techniques and products, and demonstrating skills and ideas that can turn an everyday model into a show-stopper. Always inclusive, our core modelling content is aimed at all skill levels and disciplines. There is no 'right' way to build a model. We each assimilate skills and ideas to suit our own tastes, and no publication is better attuned to what its readers want and need from a magazine.

For the best monthly magazine experience make Scale Aircraft Modelling your choice!

British Railways Illustrated
Now in its 34th year of publication, and long known by its cheerful acronym 'BRILL', British Railways Illustrated focuses on the nationalised and early modernisation era of British Railways from 1948 to the 1970s, although any aspect of vintage railway operations is grist to the mill as long as it is well-researched and written. The camera, we are told, never lies, but it can be 'economical with the truth, so BRILL's remarkable team of contributors paint a bigger picture, with extended and informed captions bringing to life the classic black and white photography that constitutes the bulk of its content. Featuring a colour cover, 56 pages of text and, typically, 60-70 high quality black and white images, most issues include maps and plans/diagrams where appropriate. 'History with a good helping of nostalgia' is its hallmark with some humour thrown in.

Railway Bylines
Companion magazine to British Railways Illustrated, Railway Bylines, now in its 30th year, focuses on the backwaters of our railway system, bringing to life long-gone industrial systems, country branches, narrow gauge and mineral lines. With a wide-ranging editorial remit the magazine covers the rolling stock, buildings and infrastructure, and while its content is largely focussed on pre-1970s subjects, material is planned and programmed for its interest and rarity and frequently strays outside these parameters.

Featuring a colour cover, 56 pages of text and, typically, 60-70 high quality black and white images, most issues include maps and plans/diagrams where appropriate. The research skills and erudition of our team of contributors ensures an informed and enjoyable read with a light touch that matches its often out-of-the-way and off-beat subjects.

Narrow Gauge & Industrial Railway Modelling REVIEW

Narrow Gauge & Industrial Railway Modelling REVIEW was started in 1989 by Roy C Link in partnership with Mike Brown. Roy's concept for the REVIEW was the setting of subject material - prototypes and models - in the best possible light.
In 1994 (from issue 19) Roy had to hand over to Mike Brown through poor health. In 1997 Mike then relinquished editorship due to ill health so Roy took back the REVIEW again (from issue 32).

In 2012 (from issue 89) the REVIEW was sold to Greystar with Bob Barlow as editor with Roy remaining responsible for design and layout. Printing was also changed to Lavenham Press in Suffolk with Lavenham performing the quarterly mailing (formerly a manual process).
Unfortunately Bob died suddenly in 2015 so the REVIEW reverted back to Roy from issue 103. All the administration details had died with Bob, but with help from John Clutterbuck the list of subscribers was reestablished and new IT facilities and online shop put in place.

In 2017 John and Marion Clutterbuck formally took over the REVIEW business under the Narrow Gauge and Industrial banner.
In March 2025 Guideline Publications included this fine magazine in their line-up to ensure its continued success.

Warpaint no 147 Nakajima Ki-43 Hayabusa On sale now!!

54 pages * £17.00 * over 8 pages Colour Profiles * 200+ Images *detailed plans*

One of the great unsung fighters of the Imperial Japanese Army Air Force was Nakajima's Ki-43 Hayabusa (Peregrine Falcon). Codenamed 'Oscar' by the Allies, the aircraft was frequently mistaken for the Navy's A6M2 Zero by those encountering it in combat, to the extent that it was widely referred to by its adversaries as the 'Army 0'.
Highly regarded in Japan, where it was much more widely recognised than the Zero, the Ki-43 was the only Japanese fighter from the Pacific War to see active service with other air forces, being supplied to both Thailand and Manchukuo by the Japanese, but also seeing use by France in Indochina, and by the air forces of Indonesia, the Republic of China, and North Korea, who pressed abandoned but airworthy airframes into service, some of which survived into the early 1950s.

Author Daniel Kowalczuk has compiled a compelling narrative that puts the aircraft in context, describes its development and active service history in detail, and explains how it came to be so widely regarded by the Japanese - so much so that it is the aircraft of choice for producers of Anime rather than its better-known contemporary.

At MiniArt we take great pride in our choice of kits.

Our selective choices generate new opportunities for serious modellers to enrich their imagination.
Quality beyond the ordinary In creating tanks, armored vehicles and artillery, we cut no corners.

We approach our business with great commitment and joy arising from the possibility of combining work with private interests.

If you are thinking of selling your collection and don't have the time to sell the models individually yourself and would like to receive a firm offer rather than an estimate from toy auction houses then Andrew would like to hear from you.

Since childhood I have been an avid collector.
I initially collected coins and stamps, moving on to collecting diecast toys during my teens and then into adulthood.

Watching TV programmes like Lovejoy and Antiques Roadshow together with the collector within me sparked the desire to work in this field.

The Vallejo Company was established in 1965, in New Jersey, USA In the first years the company specialized in the manufacture of Film Color, waterbased acrylic colours for animated films (cartoons).
In 1969 the company moved to Spain; in those years many important cartoon studios were based in Europe.

The special qualities and unique formula of Film Color soon became known, and the product was used by most of the important studios on the continent.

The ideology of new products' design is based upon the solid-state modeling that allows not only to create the design of the product and to conduct its computer assembly, but also to evaluate design as a whole and to judge the solutions that were adopted during the projecting stage.

Working with CAD/CAM/CAE systems during the design stage allows to create the mathematic models of every separate part that are further used in tooling design and in development of the programs for the digital control machines.

I love scale models since my childhood, it was almost a dream for me to get in the modelling business and connect personal hobby with professional occupation.
During my career I had designed hundreds of PE sets, decals, masks and colour instructions for plastic models for variety of producers (Eduard, MPM, Special Hobby, AVI Print).
You can easily recognize my work by signature - Dead Design.

In the beginning I will focus on items I know very well - the masks for canopies and markings, right now for subjects that were neglected or inappropriately designed by other producers.
