Toy Soldier Collector & Historical Figures prides itself on being the "go to" magazine for collectors of toy and model figures of all shapes and sizes. Primarily focused on figures around 1:32nd scale (the traditional collectable "toy soldier" size) the magazine also covers larger kits and smaller (down to 40mm) figures. TSC encompasses in-depth reviews on all recent releases within the hobby of toy soldier collecting, from the "high end" pre-painted museum quality metal figurines through to the unpainted plastic figures still played with today by both children and adults, and of course everything in between.

Whether your interest is to simply collect stunning models straight "out of the box", or you want to paint your own figures and kits, or even do a little wargaming, then TSC has something for you. Alongside the myriad of reviews and news, written by some of the hobby's most respected reviewers, TSC also features stunning full colour articles covering both military history (illustrated with figures and original photographs) and articles on the history of the hobby, from makers no longer in production and antique figures through to insights on today's manufacturers, retailers and global events/shows.

Scale Aircraft Modelling In the face of a changing marketplace SAM has proved once again that it is the first, the best, and the most obvious choice for aircraft modellers. Our historical and reference pieces are widely respected for the coverage they offer, and collected by readers for their ground-breaking research. Our monthly centre-section offers a one-stop precis of aircraft types based on the old 'Profile' series, but updated with colour artwork and scale drawings, while Colour Conundrum draws on original Air Ministry documentation to offer new ideas for well-covered subjects, often with unique insights into camouflage and markings.

From first-time builders to competition winners, SAM has something for everyone, showcasing techniques and products, and demonstrating skills and ideas that can turn an everyday model into a show-stopper. Always inclusive, our core modelling content is aimed at all skill levels and disciplines. There is no 'right' way to build a model. We each assimilate skills and ideas to suit our own tastes, and no publication is better attuned to what its readers want and need from a magazine. Make SAM your choice!

Warpaint No. 141 Vickers Viking, Valetta and Varsity

By Adrian M. Balch £19.00 56 pages

The Vickers VC.1 Viking was a British twin-engine short-range airliner derived from the Vickers Wellington bomber and built by Vickers-Armstrongs Limited at Brooklands near Weybridge in Surrey. After the Second World War, the Viking was an important airliner with British airlines, pending the development of turboprop aircraft like the Viscount. The Valetta was a military derivative of the Viking developed in transport and training variants for the Royal Air Force, while the Varsity was a versatile twin piston-engined aircraft developed from the Viking and Valetta but with a tricycle undercarriage and ventral pannier for bomb-aimer training, among other changes. It was brought into RAF service in 1951 for crew training as a replacement for the Wellington T.10.

This Warpaint relates the history of all three types, focussing on the military operators, as per the series title. It is profusely illustrated by 125 top quality photographs, nearly all in colour, from the author's extensive photograph archive and supported by excellent colour profiles and plans by Sam Pearson.
