No 80 Saab Draken
$29.00
The Saab J35 Draken was one of the best of the first generation of highly supersonic fighters to be developed and put into production during the 1950s. It was a remarkable achievement in many respects, not least because Sweden was one of the smallest nations to operate an aircraft industry.
This superb fighter is given the usual Warpaint treatment which describes the design and development programme, the various versions including the 'ultimate' J35F and upgraded J35J, export aircraft and the type's service career. Although the prototype first flew in 1955 and service entry in the Swedish Air Force came in 1960, some examples were still in service at the start of the 21st Century.
Full colour artwork and a mass of photographs support the text.
The Draken was indeed a spectacular aircraft.

No 79 Consolidated PBY Catalina
$31.00
AUTHOR: Stafrace, C
FORMAT: 74pp col/Bw/dwgs 297x210 Pb
The Catalina was flown in the most trying conditions in all theatres of war, from the Arctic by the Soviets and the US Coast Guard, to the tropics by the US Navy and RAAF. Mainly used by the US Navy and the RAF's Coastal Command for ocean patrol, it excelled in the night intruder raids carried out by the famous Black Cats in the Pacific. But perhaps its most essential role was that of the rescue at sea of downed airmen, which task Catalina crews often risked their own life to accomplish. With four pages of 1:72 scale plans, colour five-view, 36 colour profiles, ten black-and-white and twenty colour photos.

No 78 Aer Macchi C.202-205 Folgore-Veltro
$26.00
With the introduction into service of the Macchi C.202 Folgore and the C.205 Veltro the Regia Aeronautica finally caught up with the major combatants of WWII. This was mainly thanks to the licence production of the Daimler-Benz BD.60I and 605 in-line liquid-cooled engines. The C.202 and C.205 are considered to be the most elegant fighters ever produced in Italy, and proved to be excellent dogfighters possessing superb speed and manoeuvrability.
While the C.202 was widely employed within the Italian air force during the two years of combat between its introduction in July 1941 and Italy's Armistice of 8 September 1943, the C.205 saw limited service after its introduction. It was to become a protagonist once more in Northern Italy serving with the ANR.
Apart from their pleasing aesthetic features, these fighters provide modellers with a wide choice of colour schemes and markings as illustrated by Richard J. Caruana who also prepared the accompanying story and compiled this Warpaint's photo collection.
