The Do 217 was one of the primary manufactures of twin engine bombers for the Luftwaffe. The 1935 vintage flying pencil went onto give reliable early war service before the basic design was progressively developed into the Do 215 of 1938. That same year a further refinement emerged as the Do217. This aircraft despite extrapolation of the basic design inth the Do317 and 417 became the last Dornier bomber to see front line service with the Luftwaffe

The Seafires were the only naval fighters available when the Royal Nay supported the British evacuation from Paletine, intervened in the Malayan insurrection and was involved in its first Korean deployment

De Havilland's Hornet and the naval Sea Hornet were widely acclaimed as having been wonderful aircraft to fly while perhaps being the best looking of all piston engine fighters. Thanks to the close of World War 2 however and the advance of jet fighters their service career was not quite spectacular
